I want to raise the profile of adaptive athletes in Hyrox and in fitness in general. Unfortunately there's no funding available for Hyrox and due to the weight that has to be pulled, I can't use my regular chair as it's likely to break & then I won't be able to go anywhere! I currently compete in a second hand chair that's too big for me & the castor wheels keep getting stuck mid race, almost throwing me out of my chair! On my first race I actually lost a castor wheel mid-race!! You wouldn't climb a mountain in flip flops, nor would you run a marathon in trainers 3 sizes too big for you - this is similar, but much more expensive to rectify, hence why I'm seeking support! I want to perform my best & I train as hard as I can - being limited by my own fitness or strength is something I can work on, but being limited by equipment is really frustrating as no amount of training will fix that.
I hope to show others that having a disability doesn't mean you have to stop doing what you love. I’d love to inspire other adaptive athletes & break the stigma and stereotyping around disability.
I love competing in HYROX and am currently seeking athlete sponsorship. You can read my athlete profile above. Here is a video from my last competition, where I came 1st.
