Having a disability or chronic illness shouldn't stop you from participating, but it can be harder to find something that works for you.
I am a qualified PE Teacher and Dance teacher. I spent many years touring as a professional dancer, working for a large holiday company and touring with Europe's number 1 MJ touring tribute show.
When I became chronically ill, I searched for activities to try and couldn't find much that was suitable. It made me question how many others were facing the same challenges and I was determined to increase opportunities in disability sport.
I now adapt dance classes to work in my wheelchair & I love being back doing what I love again! I have a new appreciation of what my body can do & I am truly grateful for every opportunity I've been given. I hope to show others that having a disability doesn't mean you have to stop doing what you love.
Dance is a great way to improve your fitness, achieve new goals, improve mental health and increase self confidence.
I am now back to performing, this time as a professional wheelchair dancer. I performed at the Wheelchair Basketball National Finals in 2024. I am hoping to find more professional performance opportunities in the future and I continue to dance with a local dance group, I just adapt the dances to work in my chair.
My goal is to create a wheelchair dance performance team in the UK!
- Head Dancer for leading holiday company
- Local performances with advanced hip hop group (Hip Hop Pop)
- Professional dancer with Forever Jackson - Europe's number 1 Michael Jackson touring tribute show
- Professional dancer with 24K Bruno - Bruno Mars tribute show
- Head of Dance in secondary school, also offering training & support to other staff leading Dance
I LOVE dancing, it makes me feel confident and free!
I'm so pleased to be dancing again & I now adapt the choreography to work in my chair. I'm so grateful for the opportunities I've had & the positivity of the people around me.
Here's a little bit of the last show I took part in a with Hip Hop Pop, a fantastic Dance school in Essex.
